Estradiol, FSH, LH, prolactin, and progesterone. For women with infertility, menstrual disorders, or menopausal symptoms.
The Female Hormones Blood Test helps to understand hormonal balance in women and identify hormonal imbalances that can affect health and well-being. This test measures the five most important female sex hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle, fertility, mood, and overall health. It is essential for detecting hormonal disruptions that can cause various health problems, such as menstrual disorders, fertility issues, and hormone-related conditions.
This test is suitable if you experience infertility, menopausal symptoms, suspect early menopause, have an irregular menstrual cycle, experience headaches or menstrual disorders, have menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and mood swings, or want to rule out pregnancy complications. The test provides insight into whether your hormones are balanced and helps identify conditions such as PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome), early menopause, hyperprolactinemia, or other hormonal disorders. For women using birth control pills: stop at least two months before the test for accurate results.
The results provide a complete picture of your hormonal status. This test measures:
This information helps gynecologists and endocrinologists to advise targeted treatment for fertility problems, menstrual disorders, or menopausal symptoms.
Elevated FSH (especially above 25-30 IU/L) may indicate reduced ovarian reserve, early menopause, or ovarian failure. Elevated LH with normal/low FSH may suggest PCOS. Elevated prolactin (hyperprolactinemia) can lead to irregular menstruation, absence of ovulation, milk production outside of pregnancy, and is caused by stress, medication, or a pituitary tumor. Very high estradiol can occur in estrogen-producing tumors or PCOS. These abnormalities require further investigation and treatment.
Low estradiol indicates menopause, ovarian failure, or hypothalamic amenorrhea (absence of menstruation due to stress/low weight). Low progesterone in the second half of the cycle indicates anovulation or a luteal phase defect, which makes conception difficult. Low LH and FSH can indicate hypothalamic or pituitary problems. Very low hormones in young women can indicate hypothalamic amenorrhea due to extreme exercise, low weight, or stress. These conditions are often treatable with hormone supplementation, lifestyle adjustments, or fertility treatment. Results are available within 24 hours.
