The Food Allergy FX5 Phadiatop is a blood test that checks for specific antibodies against five common food allergens: cow's milk, chicken egg, wheat, peanut, and soy. These antibodies, known as IgE (Immunoglobulin E), play a crucial role in the body's allergic reaction.
This test is useful for people who suspect they are experiencing an allergic reaction to food. Symptoms can range from skin rash and stomach complaints to more severe reactions such as anaphylaxis. It is also valuable for those who wish to identify their specific allergies in order to develop an adapted diet and management plan.
A positive result on the Food Allergy FX5 Phadiatop test indicates the presence of specific IgE antibodies against one or more of the tested food allergens, pointing to a possible allergic reaction to these foods.
A high level of specific IgE antibodies against one of the tested foods indicates a higher sensitivity and likelihood of an allergic reaction upon exposure to that specific food.
A low level of specific IgE antibodies means there is a less probable chance of an allergic reaction to the tested foods. However, it does not necessarily mean a complete absence of food allergy, as allergic reactions are complex and can also be influenced by other factors.

Often within a few working days. How soon you can be seen depends on how busy the location is and the type of analysis. For specialist analyses we first ship collection materials, which takes a bit longer.
At most collection points yes. Some accept walk-ins. This is clearly indicated per location. You choose the location that works best for you.
That depends on the test. Whether fasting is required, and from what time, is clearly stated in the instructions you receive after ordering. No surprises at the counter.
It varies per analysis: from same-day to a few working days. Standard values often come back quickly; analyses that go to an external lab can take a bit longer. You get an email with a link to your digital result, including a short explanation per value.

Rationale for this test
Deze test is een gestandaardiseerde screening op IgE-antilichamen tegen vijf veelvoorkomende voedselallergenen (koemelk, kippenei, tarwe, pinda, soja). De FX5-mix wordt in Nederlandse richtlijnen voor constitutioneel eczeem genoemd als diagnostisch instrument bij verdenking op voedselallergie. De test heeft een gevestigde rol in de klinische praktijk voor het opsporen van IgE-gemedieerde voedselallergieën.
