Biotine, ook bekend als vitamine H of B8, is een in wateroplosbare vitamine die het lichaam helpt bij het metaboliseren van vetten, koolhydraten en eiwitten. In wateroplosbare vitamines worden niet in het lichaam opgeslagen, dus dagelijkse inname is noodzakelijk. Een tekort kan leiden tot haaruitval en huidproblemen, maar is relatief zeldzaam.
De menselijke cellen kunnen geen vitamine B8 synthetiseren. Darmbacteriën kunnen echter biotine produceren en de vitamine is aanwezig in tal van voedingsmiddelen. Voedingsbronnen zijn onder meer rood vlees, eieren, zaden en noten.
