Candida Albicans IgA is a biomarker that indicates the presence of IgA antibodies in the blood. These antibodies are part of the immune system and play a crucial role in the first line of defense against infections, including those caused by the fungus Candida albicans.
Testing for Candida Albicans IgA (and IgG) is important for individuals who exhibit symptoms that could indicate a Candida infection, such as persistent fatigue, digestive problems, and skin or mucosal rashes. It is especially relevant for individuals suspected of having chronic Candida overgrowth or for those susceptible to frequent fungal infections.
The detection of IgA (and IgG) antibodies against Candida Albicans helps determine an immune reaction to this fungus, which may suggest an active or recent infection. It provides insight into how the body is responding to the fungus.
A high level of Candida Albicans IgA (and IgG) suggests an active immune response against the fungus, which may indicate a recent or persistent infection. This can be a sign of overgrowth and may require clinical attention.
A low level of Candida Albicans IgA (and IgG) means there is currently no significant immune reaction against the fungus. This may indicate that the person has not been recently exposed to Candida albicans or that there is no overgrowth of the fungus.

Deze test meet antilichamen tegen Candida albicans en wordt in de reguliere geneeskunde vooral gebruikt bij verdenking op invasieve candidiasis bij ernstig zieke patiënten. Voor de interpretatie van chronische klachten zoals vermoeidheid of spijsverteringsproblemen in een DTC-context is de wetenschappelijke onderbouwing beperkt. Het concept van 'chronische Candida-overgroei' als oorzaak van vage klachten wordt niet erkend in Nederlandse zorgrichtlijnen.

After ordering we generate a referral letter and email you the instructions. You pick a collection point yourself and book an appointment there. Blood is drawn at the location, processed at the lab, and your result arrives digitally.
Often within a few working days. How soon you can be seen depends on how busy the location is and the type of analysis. For specialist analyses we first ship collection materials, which takes a bit longer.
At most collection points yes. Some accept walk-ins. This is clearly indicated per location. You choose the location that works best for you.
That depends on the test. Whether fasting is required, and from what time, is clearly stated in the instructions you receive after ordering. No surprises at the counter.
It varies per analysis: from same-day to a few working days. Standard values often come back quickly; analyses that go to an external lab can take a bit longer. You receive your laboratory report securely by email. It lists the measured values, units, reference ranges and any flags added by the laboratory.
