When can you test?
An STI may not yet be detectable shortly after exposure. The appropriate testing time differs by infection. If you have symptoms, are pregnant, use PrEP or PEP, had a very recent exposure or experienced sexual violence, contact your doctor or sexual health clinic.

You receive the laboratory result digitally. A positive or reactive result may require additional testing or treatment through a doctor or sexual health clinic.

Frequently asked questions
How does a blister or sore swab work?
Use the included swab to collect material from an active blister or sore, place it in the transport tube and return it to Medlab Stein for PCR testing. You receive the laboratory result digitally.
Which area should I sample?
Use an active and preferably fresh blister or sore and follow the kit instructions exactly when swabbing it. Do not cut or puncture the area yourself unless the included instructions explicitly tell you to do so.
What if there is no active blister or sore left?
Do not take a random swab from normal skin. Older or healing lesions can contain less material, and a negative result does not always exclude herpes in that situation. Contact us first if you are unsure.
What does the lesion-swab result cover?
The result applies to the sampled blister or sore and the time of collection. The test does not automatically examine other body sites.
How do I return the collection materials to the lab?
Use the included return envelope with free medical shipping. Drop it in the mailbox; the lab processes your shipment as soon as it arrives. For some tests it's important to send it the same day — the instructions make this clear.
What if I have questions or something doesn't work?
Feel free to contact us via WhatsApp, email or phone. We're happy to help you before, during or after your test. If the collection doesn't work, we'll arrange a solution or send new materials — no hassle.
