VLDL lipoprotein, or Very Low Density Lipoprotein, is a type of cholesterol in your blood. It transports triglycerides (fat) to your cells. VLDL is considered a type of “bad” cholesterol because a high level of it can contribute to the buildup of plaque in your blood vessels, leading to cardiovascular disease.
Testing for VLDL is useful for assessing your risk of cardiovascular disease. It helps determine the amount of triglycerides in your blood, which can be an indicator of atherosclerosis (hardening and narrowing of the blood vessels) if too high. It is often advised as part of a general cholesterol test, especially if you have a history of heart problems or if heart disease runs in your family.
VLDL cholesterol levels indicate the amount of triglycerides in your blood. This is important because high levels of triglycerides can point to an increased risk of heart disease and other health issues such as pancreatitis.
A high VLDL level indicates a high amount of triglycerides in the blood, which can increase the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. This can also be an indication of metabolic disorders such as diabetes.
A low VLDL level is generally considered favorable, but extremely low levels can indicate an underlying health problem or insufficient fat absorption.

Usually very quickly. Collection points typically have slots within a few days, sometimes even same-day. It depends on how busy the location is. For a few specialist analyses we first ship collection materials, which takes a bit longer.
