When can you test?
An STI may not yet be detectable shortly after exposure. The appropriate testing time differs by infection. If you have symptoms, are pregnant, use PrEP or PEP, had a very recent exposure or experienced sexual violence, contact your doctor or sexual health clinic.
Your result
You receive the laboratory result digitally. A positive or reactive result may require additional testing or treatment through a doctor or sexual health clinic.

How does the vaginal swab work from order to result?
You receive a sterile swab and transport tube at home. You collect the vaginal sample yourself following the illustrations in the kit, seal the tube and return it to Medlab Stein. You receive the laboratory result digitally.
How do I collect the vaginal swab correctly?
Wash your hands, do not touch the swab tip and insert the swab as shown in the kit instructions. Rotate it against the vaginal wall, remove it without touching other surfaces and place it directly in the transport tube.
Should a vaginal swab hurt?
Collection can feel unfamiliar but should not cause clear pain or bleeding. Do not force anything and stop if you experience pain or bleeding; contact us for help.
Does a vaginal swab also test my throat or rectum?
No. The result applies to the vaginal sample. An infection at another body site requires a separate swab from that site.
How do I return the collection materials to the lab?
Use the included return envelope with free medical shipping. Drop it in the mailbox; the lab processes your shipment as soon as it arrives. For some tests it's important to send it the same day — the instructions make this clear.
What if I have questions or something doesn't work?
Feel free to contact us via WhatsApp, email or phone. We're happy to help you before, during or after your test. If the collection doesn't work, we'll arrange a solution or send new materials — no hassle.
