The scientific support for this test within mainstream Dutch healthcare is limited. The test is not included in NHG/FMS standard guidelines.
Rationale for this test
Deze test onderzoekt het vaginale microbioom en detecteert schimmels zoals Candida. Hoewel vaginale infecties (zoals bacteriële vaginose en schimmelinfecties) in de reguliere zorg worden erkend en behandeld, is microbioom-analyse via uitgebreide screening niet opgenomen in Nederlandse zorgrichtlijnen zoals NHG-standaarden. De standaard-diagnostiek bij vaginale klachten bestaat uit klinisch onderzoek en gerichte kweek, niet uit brede microbioom-screening. De wetenschappelijke onderbouwing voor deze vorm van screening binnen de Nederlandse reguliere zorg is beperkt.

After ordering we ship the kit to your home. You take a swab yourself following the instructions, place the cotton swab in the tube with preservation fluid and return it in the envelope. You receive the result digitally by email.
How do I take a swab myself?
Follow the instructions with your kit — they're specific to the collection location (throat, nose, or other site). Wash your hands first and only touch the handle of the swab, not the tip.
What should I avoid before collection?
For a throat swab: no eating, drinking, smoking or brushing teeth for 30 minutes. That gives the cleanest sample.
What if the swab touches the side?
No problem as long as you hold the handle and the tip only touched the collection site. Place the swab in the tube immediately and seal tightly.
Which swab type matches my test?
It depends on the test you ordered — throat, nose or another location. The exact collection site is in the instructions with your kit. Follow them precisely for a valid result.
When and how do I receive my result?
Swab analyses (like PCR or culture) typically take about a week after the lab receives your sample. You get an email with a link to your digital result, including explanation per value.
How do I return my sample to the lab?
In the included return envelope with free medical shipping. Drop it in the mailbox; the lab processes your sample as soon as it arrives. For some tests it's important to send it the same day — the instructions make this clear.
What if I have questions or something doesn't work?
Feel free to contact us via WhatsApp, email or phone. We're happy to help you before, during or after your test. If the collection doesn't work, we'll arrange a solution or send new materials — no hassle.
